Past of the character (Hows life outside school?):
Mei was a normal Taiwanese teenager. She went to cram school everyday, somehow got into the top five of her class (she's #4), and has occasionally went OCD over her grades. She's a rather independent person, and can be outgoing, having quite a few friends with only 1 or 2 close ones though. She's an optimistic person, and believes in a better future for Taiwan. Her mother runs a food stand selling oyster pancakes (Uhah Jien) while her father is an English professor at Taiwan Normal University. She's a bit more well off than most Taiwanese people, but not so much that she isn't relatively street smart. She can't stand polution however, and loved it when she got sent off to camp (to learn English) for the summer. Eventually, summer ended, and she went back to Taiwan, going back to her daily routine of riding the crowded MRT to school, greeting her classmates, and studying till midnight. However, that studying paid off, and she was the only one in her class that got approved for a year of study at an English speaking High School in -wherever this high school is-. It was free, and it even covered the cost of the plane ticket, so her parents let her go. She knows the name is HighSchool Talia, and well Camptalia, she wonders if they're somehow related.
Roleplay Sample (Show us how you play):
Mei got off the plane, and well it wasn't bad considering it was what, the third time she's ridden in a plane. There weren't any screaming babies, though she got the middle seat between two, rather...plump people. One of the said plump people had tried to cuddle up to her, but she somehow pushed them off. Her height of 5'3 didn't really help either when she tried to reach up and get her two carryon bags. Luckily, someone tall had helped her get them down (otherwise she would've had to resort to climbing onto the seat). She had to be relieved however when she finally got off the human-infested machine. The directions were uncannily similar to the ones she received when she got off the plane for camp. You get off, go to baggage check #4 if you brought any, then you go through the x-ray machine (she wondered if this was protocol for all airports) and then you looked for a man with a sign. As she sat in one of the chairs, something suddenly sprang to mind as she opened one of her bags. Good, her lotion hadn't spilled out in a gooey mess. She tightened the cap a little more, before putting the container back into the plastic bag.
She went through the x-ray machine flawlessly sometime, relieved that she didn't need to keep whoever was picking her up waiting. She put her shoes on, and swung her backpack over her shoulder. and went to baggage claim #4 to get her big suitcase of clothes. She hoped that there wasn't a school uniform, and that there were washing machines. Grunting, after seeing her suitcase, she grabbed hold of it, and attempted to pull it off the carousel. Key word: attempted. Now Mei wasn't a weakling by any means, she was rather strong, but the sheer amount of clothes and things she needed stuffed into this one suitcase had even her strugling. She wondered how she even managed to bring this to the airport in the first place. The fact it was moving didn't help. Then she saw a strong arm reach in and grab her suitcase right as it was out of her reach. She took it, and looked up to see whoever helped her get it. She thanked them, and they told her "You're welcome" as usual. Then they asked, "You wouldn't happen to be Miss Mei Wan Chen would you?"
Mei blinked in surprise, before seeing the sign taped to the front of his jacket. "HIGHSCHOOL TALIA" Why it was taped she'd never know. "Uh, yes, I am. Thank you!" They smiled and said, "the car's waiting outside," grabbing Mei's suitcase too. Mei took the bag she had left on the floor and promptly followed him.
